| 8/5/09 - Ericsson Inc. (NASDAQ: ERIC) has signed an agreement with MapleNet
Wireless, Inc. to sell Ericsson's portfolio of short- and long-haul
microwave radio systems to broadband wireless network operators in the utilities, health
care, education and municipal government segments.
MapleNet is an Elkhart, Indiana-based fixed-wireless engineering and
installation firm specializing in turn-key wireless systems and tower
construction. The company engineers and deploys high-capacity
wireless WANs, WISPs and municipal wireless systems. Its corporate
focus is on mission-critical high-capacity IP networks for utilities,
healthcare, K-12 education, enterprise and government.
"We're pleased to add the world's most widely deployed microwave
radio system to our portfolio," said Gene Crusie, president and CEO
of MapleNet Wireless. "Ericsson's technology leadership provides our
customers with carrier-grade solutions that give them faster
implementation options and the flexibility to scale their networks as
services and user requirements evolve."
The MapleNet affiliation is part of Ericsson's North America Indirect
Channel Program that focuses on the market for PDH, SDH/SONET and
IP/Ethernet fixed-wireless broadband networks. MapleNet is one of the
first of several channel partners that have signed up for the new
program, which will address a large part of the North American
microwave market not currently served directly by Ericsson's direct
channels.
"Ericsson has gained considerable traction in many segments of the
North American microwave radio market since launching our Channel
Program," said Thomas Lubeskie, vice president of Broadband Access
and IP Solutions for Ericsson in North America. "In partnering with
MapleNet, we will be able to combine their award-winning experience
in the implementation and deployment of fixed-wireless networks with
our world-leading microwave technology to provide customers with a
cost-effective and reliable turnkey solution for microwave radio
network systems."
Ericsson is the market leader in microwave transmission and has
delivered more than 1.8 million microwave radios around the world.
The portfolio consists of the well-established MINI-LINK family,
strengthened by the Marconi LH trunk radio. These market leading
solutions insure that Ericsson's Channel Partners will be able to
address the evolution to all-IP networks using PDH, SDH/SONET, and
Ethernet-based microwave radio products.
