Convergys Introduces Infinys Solution for Wi-Fi Roaming, Partner Management, and Convergent Billing

Convergys Corporation, the global leader in integrated billing, employee care, and customer care services, announced the availability of an Infinys solution to manage the complexities of Wi-Fi roaming, partner management, and convergent billing for mainstream mobile and fixed service operators.

The Infinys solution enables partner care and settlement for digital content providers and venue hosts, as well as inter-carrier settlement among wireless Internet service providers (WISPs) that manage service for individual Wi-Fi "hotspots" (i.e., public Internet access points like retail outlets, hotels, airports, etc.)

In making this Infinys solution available, Convergys is working with Intel, a recognized global leader in the Wi-Fi market space. Intel is spearheading a major campaign to make it easy for users to access Wi-Fi services through Intel Centrino mobile technology. Additionally, Intel is working with operators worldwide to make such access available to their subscribers on a wide scale.

As a result, global Wi-Fi adoption rates continue to accelerate with the greater availability of Wi-Fi-ready portable computers and handheld devices, and public access points known as "hot spots."
