Netopia's Wi-Fi Hotspot-In-A-Box Lowers Costs

Netopia, Inc. announced that Public IP, Inc. has selected Netopia's 3-D Reach Wi-Fi CERTIFIED ADSL Gateway to deliver free wireless Internet access through small business hotspot locations across the nation. By leveraging Netopia's 3-D Reach design, Public IP will be the first national ISP to deliver an integrated Wi-Fi/ADSL router as part of its hotspot solution.

Netopia's 3-D Reach enabled Wi-Fi-certified ADSL gateway instantly creates a broadband-enabled wireless hotspot, and with 3-D Reach technology, this gateway has the industry's best on-premise range. Today, most hotspot installations rely on two hardware devices: an ADSL broadband modem and a separate Wi- Fi access point usually from two separate vendors. This model increases costs for the hotspot service provider and adds complexity for the small business owner. By integrating the ADSL broadband modem with the Wi-Fi access point, Netopia's design offers a more cost effective and easily deployed and supported single-box hotspot solution.
